Got tired of looking at that bright white background and decided to switch it up a little bit. Did a little navigation restructuring as well. If you're feeling nostalgic, the original site version can be found here. The Green Light Architecture site is coming along slowly but surely, landing/holder page is up. Poster for the production A Great Place to Be From is up now as well.

For those keeping track a few changes have been made. The work section has been broken down into old and new. The student work is now second tier to work from the past three years. Nothing fancy, just simple scrolling pages of images. Dropped the liquid nav bar. Site info and footer with CC info now on the landing page. And no more pop-ups!

More importantly outside of these little updates, I have now completed my third contracted job with Babel Theatre Project. I also was hired by the the Alzheimer's Association Junior Committee to do all print materials for their gala this year.

I also began work on a site for Green Light Architecture, a two man firm based out of New Jersey/New York. It is still in the concept stages but I'm excited to step into 2001 and make my first CSS based site.

Still working in Development at the Guggenheim; this May will be my third year. Sweet jesus. Also, for those Cincinnatians, I was recently profiled in the last ArtWorks newsletter. Click here for a scan of the article showing a flattering here and now shot of teenage double chinned Michael vs. mid-20s 'mmm MM! who dat?' Michael.

i've been contracted by babel theatre project to do all print and digital design for their next three productions. the poster from the first of these plays can be seen here.

also i am happy to announce that A Tree for Anable Basin, the public art installation I started working on two years ago, has been in full production these past few months. installation is slated for October 20. i've made a project website were you can read all about it: anabletree.com

Recent Work!

watch out now, it's a big file. i suggest doing the 'right click > save as' so you skip the possibility of opening in-browser. i won't promise any more updates but know deep down in my heart, that i really, really do care.

oh, and you can check out a website i did for Big Break Productions. and that big poster on the front page? that too, along with all the other print work from their last production.

five months this time. i'm really staying on top of this website thing. the only reason i'm updating is because of my 30 day renewal reminder for my domain name. guggenheim still good. the project is slow, pretty much dead. there's building/site issues that are stilling being decided and we don't want to start construction until we have a definitive place to put it. painting and drawing a little bit. hey, maybe i'll actually do a real update soon... we'll see.

alright i got a little somethin somethin, check out vivian's stuff here

damn so it's been another month... went by fast. quiting starbucks proved to be fruitful, i am now a full time employee at the guggenheim working in the illustrious membership and individual development. one step from head curator. fosho.

had the first meeting with the people from place in history. it went very well, they are really good people who are excited and interested and involved but also very relaxed and thoughtful. we're about to start detailed plans of the construction and building a model and start work on fundraising. so if you want to help, send me money! any and all donations are accepted. so yeah, just been busy. being productive is definitely a good thing.

hey all, lots of big news! this past february, a good friend of mine from high school, Gideon Shapiro, contacted me about a competition for a public installation funded by a non-profit group out of Brooklyn, Place In History. and today they called Gideon to announce that they chose our proposal as the winner! frickin amazing! i was just happy enough to spend some time doing something fun and creative and it turns out we actually might get this thing built! so if you like check out the proposal here.

secondly, i quit starbucks. thank god. it was definitely needed. there are good prospects at the guggenheim, not to mention the fact that i actually enjoy being there, so i decided to not jeopordize my employment with the museum and gave them my full reign of my genius talents.

which brings me to my third point, design work. with all my free time now, i am finally, and i mean it this time, finishing my flash studies. so tyrell, if you are reading this, my apologies for being so damn lazy getting around to working with you. so expect some new flashy flash stuff here and on separate projects.

keep sippin an leanin. back den hoes dinnit wan me, now im hot hoes all on me.

um yeah, so it's been about four months since i have said anything. and basically, what's the point of having some news when nothing changes? so let me argue my point... i don't stop working. and when i do, i sleep. or have fun. art wise, things are slow. pretty much non-existant actually. design wise, doodles here and there. basic ideas. i have started to teach myself flash and hope to create my first 100% flash site within the next month. i will let you all know how that's coming. ideally, flash integrated with html content looks like the most promising site in offering a wide range of things you can do. i've seen some nice sites that do that. who knows though... i'm really just an amature at these things. and maybe some php tutorials are on the way for myself. changed a few things on the resume, the guggenheim is going great. yeaup. that's about it!

after wading through 30 hours of tutorials and close to twice as much in site construction, i've done it. got a decent amount of drawings, prints, paintings, and watercolors up. soon to come - design work, more info/contact stuff including resume and site statement, maybe a links section, a few styling edits, and other things as needed. let me know what you think, suggestions, criticisms, broken links, pictures not working, etc.
